NSW bans vaping in all public spaces

Date: 27 Apr 18

Author: Jimmy Nicks

NSW has joined four other states banning e-cigarette smokers from being able to vape in public spaces. Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT have already imposed the ban, which will only further marginalize its public who want a healthier, safer cheaper alternative to analog cigarettes.

Despite more and more evidence coming to light every day that e-cigarettes are safer than their analog predecessors, the Australian government seems hell-bent on wiping them off the market. The British agency 'Public Health England' estimates e-cigarettes are 95 percent less dangerous than smoking. There are many more studies by reputable organizations throughout the globe including the recent Greek study, which concluded e-cigarettes can substantially reduce the exposure of smokers to harmful toxins.

Comments by Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt who told ABC radio he would not lift the ban on e-cigarettes, "It's not going to be happening on my watch, as far as I'm concerned.." are not helpful or insightful.

Kerry Chant, NSW's chief health officer has stated publicly, "there is evidence of potential health risks from e-cigarette vapors - even if there's no illegal nicotine in the e-liquid'.

What evidence Mr. Chant? Can you produce this evidence? Can it be available like the multiple public reports at your fingertips that falsify your own statements?

We have top government officials making statements without any knowledge or research, and who ignore independent scientific research. We need to question statements by our governing bodies. Politicians such as Mr. Chant and Mr. Hunt are making fanciful statements rebuking years of research.

We cannot call on the politicians to enact the basic principle of democracy. We need you, to flaunt and support the rights of people.

We need a balanced argument and some logical thinking. People’s lives are at stake.
