When I recently stumbled across the headline in the New Zealand Herald, 'Men Who Vape' my initial thoughts were, "Here we go again, more vaping bashing". But I was pleasantly surprised to agree with a lot of what 'Lee Suckling' had to say.
Lee's article by and large criticizes obnoxious male vapers blowing huge clouds in places where they shouldn't. He then lists a few places it's not ok to vape, and places he believes it is ok. Great, cool, I hear ya. It's an opinion piece and you are welcomed to read the article and make up your own mind if you disagree or agree.
But, for me, yeah, nah. Obnoxious vaping is not a gender-related problem, it is a vaping problem. We do not want to join NSW and several other Australian states who have banned vaping in public due to a small minority in the vaping community being inconsiderate of others rights.
Vaping still does not have the perception we hoped it would. The propaganda around this industry is absurd. While we can't always do too much to stop the lobbying and backroom meetings, the vaping community itself can help shape public perception by being courteous and polite how we vape, and where we vape.
